Amalgamated Dress has a culture to work as a team at all levels. People are our biggest assets and we strive to maintain a well trained, skilled workforce. This ensures our customers receive top quality products which is the cornerstone of the company. Decisions are made in a collaborative environment and not behind closed doors. When we work as a team, ideas trickle down from management as well as up from the workforce, so we are able to respond to customers needs quickly and adapt to the market in a way not many large organisations can.

On the other hand, we are a large, professional organisation and always maintain a high standard when it comes to customer relations, product quality and union agreements. We service most of Zambia's biggest mines ensuring their continual operation to help the economy grow into the future.

Amalgamated Dress (Z) Ltd is a member of the Association of Garment Manufacturers, Zambian Federation of Employers, Zambian Association of Manufacturers and Chamber of Commerce.

History

Amalgamated Dress [Z] Ltd was established in 1976 as a wholly owned private company. It first started producing overalls for the government organisation ZCCM protecting Zambian workers for over twenty two years. In the early 1980s, expansion into other clothing items was carried out due to the high local demand for industrial uniforms and uniforms for security companies, hospitals, hotels and catering. The directors, who are still involved with operations, became well known in the clothing industry and have now been involved in the clothing trade for over 50 years.

Over the last 10 years, the company has expanded into supplying the full range of personal protective equipment and all other safety items. The products adhere to SABS specifications and are stocked in large volumes for our corporate clients. Due to the clients demands for corporate wear, the company started manufacturing corporate clothing and it has now become one of the more prominent lines of manufactured products.

Amalgamated Dress was the first company to introduce two piece worksuits (conti suits) to the Zambian mining industry. This is due to its continuous innovative nature forging itself into the forefront of the industry. Since then, it has provided a unique service to its clients, tailor-making worksuits with two-tone colours and various styles to suit their international standards.
